Four players advance to TV finals at USBC Masters

bowl.com (11/18/05)

After three long days of competition at AMF Bowlero Lanes in suburban Milwaukee, the field at the United States Bowling Congress Masters has been whittled down from 467 bowlers to four hopeful competitors.

Amateur southpaws Art Brown of Lansing, Mich., and Ken Muscato of Canandaigua, N.Y., will join tour veterans Norm Duke of Clermont, Fla., and Mike Scroggins of Amarillo, Texas, in Sunday's finals, which will be televised live on ESPN from the U.S. Cellular Arena in downtown Milwaukee at 1 p.m. (12 central).

Brown and Duke both have made it through the winners' bracket unscathed and a three-game match between the two will determine the top seed for the TV show. The loser will meet the winner of the Scroggins-Muscato match to determine the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds for the show. The loser of the Scroggins-Muscato battle will be the No. 4 seed.

Tommy Jones Becomes A Father

On November 9th Tommy Jones wife (Kristen) gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

Tommy will sit out this weeks Professional Bowlers Associations Greater Omaha Classic. By not bowling in this tournament it is likely that Jones will surrender his #1 ranking. It's probable that Patrick Allen will take over the #1 ProRanking. However, if Allen has a bad week then Mika Koivuniemi and Chris Barnes have a chance if they bowl their way to a high finish.

High scores are prevalent this week. Amateur bowler Rick Miller led this weeks PTQ with an average over 250. Ryan Shafer and Michael Haugen Jr. Both shot 300 in the very first game of qualifying.

The finals of this weeks Professional Bowlers Association Greater Omaha Classic can be seen live on Sunday at 1:00 eastern time on ESPN. Get the very latest scores during the week by logging onto the live scoring section of the PBA.COM web site.
